Vonage the Broadband Phone Company

How does it work?
The Nuts & Boltsblank space The Nuts & Bolts

Just like a regular home phone, only much much better. It really is just about that easy. You can get 500 minutes of local and long distance calls every month for $14.99, like I did or get unlimited calling for $24.99 a month, like my children and a friend did. That's anywhere in the US and Canada for the same ridiculously low flat rate. Business customers get two lines, a phone line and a fax line, unlimited for $49.95 per month. How about 7 digit local dialing, no more having to dial the whole stinkin' number with the area code to just call across the street.

You don't even have to have a computer. You do need reliable broadband internet service. Don't know or aren't sure about all that kind of stuff, drop me a line and I'll help. Don't think you have broadband available? I can do the research for you, there are many different ways to get it and there are more new kinds of broadband being added all of the time. Especially in rural areas where there is a national initiative going on to get everybody hooked up.

If you already have broadband internet, all you do is place your order and in a few days your new phone company will come right to you by package delivery. You plug the new magic phone box directly into your broadband internet modem. For folks with computers, that's in between the internet and your computer. Plug a regular telephone into the Vonage box next to where it says Phone1, wait about two minutes and pick up the phone. You should have dial tone. Then go hook up your other phones.

If it doesn't work, unplug the power to your broadband internet modem, wait for 15 seconds and plug it back in again. Do the same with the Vonage box, wait for 15 seconds and plug it back in again. Wait for two more minutes. You should have dial tone. I didn't even have to read the instructions, just plug it in and it works. Still scared to try it? Get a second line for your fax machine for $15 a month. What's to lose?

What does it do for me?

Saves you all kinds of money on your phone bill. It's like having free long distance. It has nearly every calling feature known to man already built in. Call waiting, call forwarding, three way calling, caller ID, rotary hunt groups, you name it, it's got it. There is even a check box at the Vonage website to get your voicemail sent to your email.

Going on vacation? Take the Vonage box with you. Plug it into the broadband at the hotel, anywhere there is a broadband jack. Anywhere? Yes, anywhere in the world. My kids got Vonage and took it to Lithuania with them. I call their local US number here and the phone rings in Vilnius Lithuania. I can talk to my grandbaby on the other side of the world for free.

Got friends and relatives in another country? You can add extra local numbers most anywhere for just $5 a month. Having trouble with the phone company over an old billing disagreement? Tell the phone company where to go, disconnect from the hassle and plug into Vonage broadband internet telephony. Want to keep your same phone number? N
umber transportability only takes about two weeks in most places. Get free long distance in the meanwhile you are waiting for your old phone company to let go of your number.

Vonage saves you money on your phone calls.
